Euro Bug In
We set off tonight for Euro Bug In which is going to be awesome!! We are trading there also which will be fun! Updates and pictures when we are back!
Auf Wiedersehen EOL.....
It was a sad day for us yesterday as we said good bye to our 1965 Splitscreen bus. We have owned it for 4 years and felt it was time to move on and concentrate on our racing program. We have just put a deposit down on a '96 Compass Drifter 5 berth motorhome to make staying at the 'pod' that bit more enjoyable!! Things should hopefully start moving forward quickly now with the '59 and we are still aiming for next year for its shakedown passes!

Shawn Geers new DRKC car
One word...Badass!!! Shawn Geers new DRKC car is awesome! Its already run mid 10's at the first outing! It was hard getting pics as there was always a crowd around it!! The engine is very trick and is running a vacuum pump to relieve crankcase pressure by creating a vacuum in the crankcase to help keep the oil off of the cylinder walls and out of the combustion chambers. This decreases the possibility of detonation caused by oil contamination in the combustion chambers. It is also a huge horsepower saver and can save something like 20hp or so!! You'll notice he is also running a crank triggered MSD ignition system which was originaly made for a V8 engine which Shawn has modified to work with a VW engine! Its also running on 62mm Terminator Carbs!!!!!
Irwindale Raceway CA
As part of the 'Classic week' we heading up to Irwindale Raceway on a Thursday to see some 1/8th mile racing and check out some VW racecars! We were really chufted to see this 57 Oval which has been our inspiration for long while! Its an awesome car and exactly the style and look we are after with the '59! We are going to run normally aspirated so we will be running a decklid though!
Back to normality
Well we've been back from the states a week and it sucks! We had an awesome trip and really didn't want to come home! One of the other main reasons for us flying out to So-Cal was to get married which we were on Monday 4th June at 12pm. We had a fantastic day and really set us up to enjoy the classic week!!
We have also decided to put our beloved bus up for sale. It was a tough decision to make but we feel the right one. As most of our time now in the bus is spent at the racetrack we feel a proper motorhome would be more suited to our needs and it will also enable us to tow the racecar once its finished! See http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=468885 for the sale advert.

So-Cal Diaries
So-Cal Diaries
Hello from sunny Southern California! We have been out here for about a week and its awesome! We have hit up many of the shops and shows that are out here and scored some great parts! Pomona swapmeet was very fruitful and we picked up a pair of OG Italian 48 IDA's with OG JayCee velocity stacks! We also bought a restored speedo for the '59 from Rich Kimball which is beautiful!
